GREAT FALLS COLLEGE MSU HOSTS COMMUNITY DENTAL DAY
Great Falls — Great Falls College MSU’s Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting students will be hosting a community dental day on Saturday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The No Smile Left Behind Community Dental Day is open to members of the public who are in need of dental work such as cleanings, extractions and sealants. Students will work with local dentists and other dental professionals to provide services at no cost to anyone in need.
The event is open to all ages.
Dental sealants will be offered to children ages 5 to 17. Sealants are a protective coating placed on the biting surface of back teeth to keep cavity-causing bacteria and food out of the grooves where they can hide. Brushing and flossing are not effective in the grooves of teeth so sealants are important and should be placed soon after the eruption of the tooth.
Cleanings and extractions will be offered to adults. Adults in need of additional dental care may be selected on a limited basis for more in-depth procedures.
A hot meal will be served throughout the event and there will also be an activity room for children.
“The goal of this event is to fill a need in the community for those who may not have access to dental care due to financial limitations,” said Robin Williams, Director of the Dental Assistant Program at GFC MSU.
