GFC MSU’S NANSLO LAB TO PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL CARNIVAL

The North American Network of Science Labs Online (NANSLO) Lab at Great Falls College MSU is participating Wednesday, March 9 in the first ever Remote Instrumentation and Virtual Labs Content Carnival.

The carnival is hosted by the K20 Initiative, part of the U.S. UCAN effort to bring together institutions and innovators from primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, libraries, and museums to extend new technologies, applications, middleware, and content to all educational sectors, as quickly and connectedly as possible.

The NANSLO Lab at GFC MSU is part of the North American Network of Science Labs Online and offers students the opportunity to complete science laboratory work using real equipment controlled via an internet connection.

“This is a great opportunity for us to connect with other schools and showcase the scientific research that goes on in the NANSLO Lab,” said Dr. Brenda Canine, NANSLO Lab manager.

The Remote Instrumentation and Virtual Labs Content Carnival will showcase select remote instrumentation projects and virtual lab resources available to the educational community through live demonstrations, remote audience interaction, and observed participation by schools around the country. The event will feature six separate 30-minute sessions from science laboratories across the U.S. and Canada.

The GFC MSU NANSLO Lab will present from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. MST and will discuss ecology and microscope lab activities.

Classes can sign up for the entire carnival, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. MST on Wednesday, or can register for specific sessions.
