GREAT FALLS COLLEGE MSU COMMMUNITY CHOIR TAKES PART IN ART SHOW WITH PERFORMANCE
Great Falls, MT—The Great Falls College MSU Community Choir has been invited to perform at the Out West Art Show and Sale, during Western Art Week, Friday evening, March 18, at the Best Western Heritage Inn in Great Falls.
Beginning Wednesday, March 16, and concluding Saturday, March 19, artists, buyers, collectors, and art enthusiasts will converge on the Electric City for Western Art Week. During this week there is not a corner of the city that is not talking about art. Western Art Week showcases the work of some of the finest artists and galleries on the planet.
At the heart of this excitement you will find the Out West Art Show and Sale. This show will have 110 exhibit rooms and will be filled with more than 140 exhibiting artists and ten premier gallery showrooms. “For the last 45 years the Out West Art Show and Sale has been the premier art room show during Western Art Week,” said Ron Ukrainetz, Chairman of the Board for the Out West Art Foundation.
This year, Great Falls College MSU will make its mark on the art show. The Great Falls College Community Choir will perform several pieces throughout its Friday evening performance. The lyrics for the choir’s headlining piece called “His Heart Sleeps” were written by Charlie M. Russell, based on one of his paintings. The choir will perform this same piece when they perform in May 2016 at Carnegie Hall. “It is quite an honor,” said Cynthia Stevens, choir director at Great Falls College MSU. “It’s not every day you get invited to perform at an event like the Out West Art Show and Sale. We plan to make the most of this opportunity and show Great Falls, and those visiting from around the world what the Great Falls College Community Choir can do.”
When the choir began, Stevens hoped to have 20 members. It quickly grew to more than 50 members by the end of the first semester, and currently has more than 90 voices in just its second year. The Great Falls College Community Choir has presented several performances both at the college and across the community. “The Out West Art Show will be our largest and most notable performance by far since the choir’s inception,” said Stevens.
As the Great Falls College Community Choir works toward its performance at Carnegie Hall in May, they have also been working to raise the funds needed for the trip. “We still need about $67,000, but performances like these certainly draw attention to our need, and along the way donors have stepped up to help us,” Stevens said.
The mission of Great Falls College MSU is to Educate and Inspire You.
