GREAT FALLS – Great Falls College MSU and the Great Falls Symphony will be hosting preview events before each symphony concert during the upcoming season.
At each Symphony Preview, Great Falls symphony music director Grant Harville will discuss the music that will be featured in the upcoming Symphony performance.
“He is going to play examples of the music and talk about themes you’ll want to listen for during the performance,” said Cynthia Stevens, department chair of Fine Arts and Humanities at GFC MSU.
The Symphony Previews will be held the Thursday before each Symphony concert. They will run from noon to 1 p.m. at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S. The preview events are free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch.
“The goal of these events is to make symphonic music more accessible,” Stevens said. “It’s a lot more enjoyable to attend a symphony concert when you know what to listen for and understand some background about the music.”
Before the first Symphony concert on Sept. 30, Great Falls College MSU will also host an informance (an informational, informal performance) with guest artist Jiji. The informance will be on Sept. 29 at noon in Heritage Hall at Great Falls College MSU. The event is free and open to the public.
“Jiji is going to give a little preview of the music that she will perform with the Symphony,” Stevens said. “It’s an opportunity for the community to get to know the guest artist before her performance with the symphony.”
All preview events are noon to 1 p.m. and are free and open to the public. They will be held at Great Falls College MSU on the following dates:
