Judges needed for the Montana Region II Science and Engineering Fair

GREAT FALLS — Great Falls College MSU is hosting the Montana Region II Science and Engineering Fair on Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8 and is seeking volunteer judges for both events.

“The students present some very creative and interesting projects,” said Dr. Leanne Frost, Director of the Region II Science and Engineering Fair and General Studies at Great Falls College MSU. “No science background is needed to judge. Volunteers just need an interest in talking to students about their projects.”

About 50 judges are needed for the elementary fair and 100 for the middle and high school fair. Both events will be held at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S. The time commitment for judging the elementary fair is 8:45-11:00 am on Thursday, March 7, and 7:45-11 a.m. for the middle and high school fair on Friday, March 8. Training will be provided both days.

Volunteers can use their own smartphone or other personal electronic device to judge. If they do not have a device, the college will have some available.

Volunteer judges can register online at www.gfcmsu.edu/sciencefair or by contacting Charla Merja at 406-771-4301.

GFC MSU is expecting about 150 elementary school students, grades K-5, and 250 to 300 middle school and high school students, grades 6-12, to participate in the fair. Region II includes schools in Glacier, Toole, Liberty, Teton, Pondera, Cascade, and Judith Basin counties.

Student project registration is open through Friday, March 1, at www.gfcmsu.edu/sciencefair.

Members of the media and public are welcome to attend either day of the Science Fair. For a schedule of events, visit www.gfcmsu.edu/sciencefair.
