Laptop Availibility
Dell Laptops are available for currently enrolled Great Falls College students to check out each 8-week block. To check out a laptop you will need to visit the library’s circulation desk. A laptop agreement form must be filled out each semester you borrow a laptop, even if you have borrowed one before.
Laptops are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Once all laptops are checked out, you may put your name down on a waiting list for the next available laptop (there is no guarantee that one will become available during that same block of classes).
Updating and Downloading Software
The only type of software permitted on campus owned computers are programs required for Great Falls College courses. If a program you need is not installed on the device, please contact the Technology Assistance Center to get the software installed.
If applications need a software update, please check the software center for updates (hit the windows button and search for software center). If the needed update is not available, please contact the Technology Assistance Center to install the required updates.
Laptop Renewals
Laptop renewals must occur in person. Each laptop must be brought back at the end of each block by the due date to be looked over by a library staff member to determine if service is required or if the item is damaged. At this point the laptop can be renewed for the following block of classes. If the laptop needs repairs or updates, a different device can be checked out to you. Laptops must be returned to a staff member at the circulation desk.
Fines for Late, Damaged and Lost Items
verdue fines are charged for technology items that are not returned by the due date. If you cannot return an item on time, please contact the library in advance to make alternate arrangements. Replacement costs are charged for damaged or lost technology items. Students who return a device with excessive damage or lose a device will no longer be able to check out loanable technology from the library. Please contact the library before the due date if you have trouble returning or renewing an item on time.
Replacement costs for laptops range from $750-1,000 depending on model specifications.
