Certified Nursing Assistant
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is a short-term, non-credit workforce training offered through the Career & Technical Education Division. We are an approved training provider for the State of Montana. Our program trains and prepares individuals to pass the Montana state licensure exam to become a CNA.
CNAs are trained in nursing-related duties to provide essential care for patients in healthcare facilities. CNAs assist with daily living activities, ensure patient comfort, monitor vital signs and support nursing staff in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment. They play a key role in addressing patient needs and fostering a positive care experience.
Application materials must be complete and submitted to: Great Falls College, 2100 16th Avenue South, Great Falls MT 59405. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Program Details
- Classes are offered every month both fully in-person and hybrid (online and in-person). Contact our office for the current schedule.
- Course fee is $900 (includes books, instruction for Montana state licensure exam, first testing fee, healthcare CPR certification and job assistance).
- Must pass both program and state requirements to be eligible to test.
- Our instructors have over 50+ years of combined experience as RN’s and LPN’s.
- Classroom sizes are based on 1:10 instructor-to-student ratio so each student maximizes learning objectives so they can successfully pass the state exams.

CNA Snippets
- We currently offer CNA training at both high schools: CMR & GFH. Contact the counselor for more information or to enroll.
- Ask us how to receive a discount on tuition when enrolling for your Associate’s degree. If you complete one of our health care trainings and never accessed college credit before, you are eligible.
- There is a need for CNAs in smaller towns and remote areas.
- There is a higher percentage of seniors living in Montana compared to the national average.
- We partner with the Career & College Readiness Center (CCRC) and their staff helps us provide supportive services to students to ensure their success in the program.
- The average starting wage for CNAs in Montana is around $38,000 – $47,000 annually.
