GREAT FALLS —Benefis Health System has invested $112,000 in support of the nursing and surgical technology programs at Great Falls College MSU.

“This gift makes a lot of sense from the standpoint of Benefis. Our industry will continue to need more well-trained nurses and other healthcare professionals. Great Falls College MSU has high quality programs that produce high quality job candidates. These graduates are also more likely to stay in our region,” said Amy Beames, Senior Vice President with Benefis Health System.

The gift from Benefis Health System will support $100,000 in salaries for nursing programs and $12,000 for the surgical technology program at Great Falls College MSU.

“The competence of graduating nurses and surgical techs hinges on strong instruction as well as practice, and the simulated hospital at GFC MSU really helps out in that regard. We’re proud to support these programs,” said Beames.

The Practical Nursing program at Great Falls College MSU has educated and graduated nurses who are prepared to go into the workforce as LPNs and begin making an impact within healthcare organization and with patients. In July 2016, the college graduated 25 students in its first class of Registered Nurses. These graduates are prepared to provide acute care including rehabilitation and providing support to patients and families. The surgical technology program prepares students to assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals with instruments, equipment, supplies and medications during surgery.

“We are incredibly grateful to Benefis Health System. Their investment in nursing and surgical technology at Great Falls College MSU ensures quality healthcare will be provided in our communities. This gift allows the college to hire faculty who are in these high demand fields,” said Dr. Susan J. Wolff, CEO/ Dean at Great Falls College MSU.
