GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls College Community Choir will present a holiday concert Thursday, Dec. 15 with special guests Philip Aaberg and Cantus, the University of Great Falls choir.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
“This concert wraps up our semester and kicks off the holiday season with a mix of sacred and secular holiday tunes,” said GFC MSU choir director Cynthia Stevens.
Special guest pianist Philip Aaberg will accompany the choir on four of his compositions. The choir sang the Aaberg pieces during last May’s concert in Carnegie Hall, but did not have Aaberg as an accompanist during the performance.
“We’re very excited to perform with Philip Aaberg,” Stevens said. “Phil is a talented musician, composer and accompanist.”
The choir will also be singing a selection of Alfred Burt Christmas carols.
“Alfred Burt wrote Christmas carols as his Christmas greetings to family and friends, much like Charlie Russell drew sketches on his Christmas letters,” Stevens said.
The Great Falls College Community Choir is excited to collaborate with Cantus, the University of Great Falls choir, under the direction of Meghan Wakeley, for the holiday concert. Each choir will present its own set of music and will perform together for one set.
The Great Falls College Children’s choir, featuring young singers in kindergarten through 8th grade, will also perform at the concert.
A reception will follow the performance.
