GFC MSU’s Mandy Wright earns national 40 Under 40 Award

Mandy Wright, English faculty, at Great Falls College MSU was named among the American Association for Women in Community College’s 40 Under 40.

The AAWCC’s 40 Under 40 Award recognizes outstanding female leaders under 40 years of age working at a community college and making a difference for the colleges they serve. Wright was one of 40 women from across the country who were honored. She was the only person from Montana to win this award.

Wright has taught at GFC MSU for 9 years. She holds a BA in English from Carroll College, a MA in English from Montana State University, and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from MSU.

During her time at GFC MSU, Wright was instrumental in bringing a doctorate program in Adult and Higher Education to interested faculty and staff at the Great Falls College MSU campus. She spearheaded the effort to pull together a cohort of 16 potential students and entice Montana State University to offer the program in a hybrid format here in Great Falls. Wright also makes a difference in the community by helping with the Bountiful Baskets program and teaching a creative writing course to local elderly residents. She was a high school speech and drama coach for four years.

“We are very proud of Mandy for receiving this recognition,” said Dr. Susan J. Wolff, CEO/Dean of GFC MSU. “It is a great honor for Mandy to be recognized by the premier, national organization that provides leadership training and opportunities for women employed at the nation’s community and two-year colleges. She is generous with her time and her skills and uses these to educate and inspire students on a daily basis. Mandy is a woman of action, and her leadership skills extend beyond campus and into the community.”

The 40 Under 40 Awards were presented April 24 during the AAWCC’s Annual Convention in New Orleans. The American Association for Women in Community Colleges is the leading national organization that champions women and works for equity and excellence in education and employment for women in community, junior and technical colleges.
