Great Falls College MSU Community Choir presents spring concerts
GREAT FALLS — The Great Falls College Community Choir will present two spring concerts in May.
The first performance is Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Avenue South.
The show includes a performance by the Great Falls College Children’s Choir, featuring a variety of American folk tune selections. Following the Children’s Choir, the Great Falls College Community Choir will present its Carnegie Hall program showcasing Montana composers. This includes works by Chester composer Philip Aaberg, Blackfeet entertainer Jack Gladstone (arranged by Peter Wilson from Highwood), UGF Drama Entrepreneur Michael Gilboe and a song with text by artist C.M. Russell.
On Thursday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m., the Great Falls College Community Choir will perform at Highwood School in Highwood. This performance again features the same selection of songs that will be presented in Carnegie Hall. Ensembles from Highwood School will also perform.
Both concerts are free. However, donations are encouraged.
The Great Falls College Community Choir’s final spring performance will be in Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 28 at 1 p.m.
“The choir has been preparing for this trip for two years, and we are so excited it’s finally here,” said Cynthia Stevens, Great Falls College Community Choir director. “As a way of thanking the community for its support, we’re looking forward to presenting our Carnegie Hall program in Great Falls. We could not have done this without the support of our hometown audience!”
The Great Falls College Community Choir is continuing to fundraise for the trip. Donations can be made online at www.gofundme.com/gfctonyc or by contacting Cynthia Stevens at 406.771.2270 or [email protected].
