Great Falls College MSU to host choral festival

GREAT FALLS – Great Falls College MSU is hosting the Montana Choral Directors Association choral festival Friday, Nov. 18.

MCDA’s Central Montana Youth Sings features younger singers, grades 4 through 8, from across central Montana. About 100 students are expected to participate in the festival hosted at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S.

The students will be divided into two choirs – grades 4-6 and grades 7-8.

“They’ll spend the day learning music and rehearsing and will perform a concert that evening,” said Cynthia Stevens, Department Chair of Fine Arts and Humanities at GFC MSU.

Stevens will direct the 4th through 6th grade choir, and Jordan Spicher, Vocal Music and Guitar Teacher at Great Falls High School, will direct the 7th through 8th grade choir.

Both choirs will perform a concert at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall. The performance is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.

“We are very excited to host this event that will bring together talented young vocalists from across the region,” Stevens said.
