GREAT FALLS—Two of Great Falls College MSU’s finest, Dr. Will and Nancy Weaver, were recently named recipients of the Sherman Fellow Award on Saturday, June 8.
The Portage Route Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation (LCTHF) awards recipients annually who are recognized by their peers as those one who deeply reflects William P. Sherman’s values.
Bill Sherman was one of the founding members of the LCTHF and passed away on March 5, 2003 not without contributing much to society and being instrumental in the establishment of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls, MT. He was dedicated to the establishment of the Center through obtaining support and gifting to the implementation of the center himself. Among Sherman’s compelling qualities were his patriotism and citizenship.
Will and Nancy Weaver epitomize these values through their many years of support and contributions to the Portage Route Chapter and the community. Will served as dean and CEO of Great Falls College MSU from 1985 to 2001 while Nancy served as Business faculty and Admissions from 1971 to 1996. Those fifteen years were ones of major growth for the college.
Their contributions to increasing access for all students and meeting the needs of the region are just two of the many reasons that the college is so successful in its student centered approach to education. They have continued to be instrumental in the success and advancement of Great Falls College MSU. The Weaver Library at GFC MSU is named after Will and Nancy for their dedication and contributions to the success of the college and its students.
Currently, the Weaver Library is the recipient of Lewis and Clark artwork donated by John England, member of the Portage Route Chapter of the LCTHF. The Weaver Library is a public library; therefore, all who visit and use the library can appreciate the artwork.
